Want to Kick Your Life Beyond Surviving into Thriving?

You Can't Thrive Until You Define What it Means to You!

You Need to Define What Your Life Would Look Like When You're Thriving.  You Need to Make it Juicy!

Define It:  What Does Thrive Mean to You?

Happiness, success, fulfillment, and thriving are all emotional states that we strive to achieve.  But we make one huge critical error = we never define exactly what it means.

I hear clients say - I want to be happy!  Well, what does that mean to you?  I want to be successful!  What does that mean to you? And so on.

I want you to define what it means to be thriving.

The definition is personal.  It belongs to you and you only.  Once you have your personal Thrive meaning, no one can take it away from you.

You will become laser focused on making it happen.

Thrive = to progress toward or realize a goal despite or because of circumstances

Get specific and write down what "thriving" will look like in these areas of your life:
  • Career, Work and Business
  • Health and Well-being
  • Friendships
  • Relationships
  • Spiritual
  • Community
  • Finances
Feel free to add or delete areas + make them personally reflect your current life situation.

Include details, lots of luscious details in your definition:

What will you feel?  What will you see?  hear? Smell?  Taste?

Can you see the difference between these two definitions?
  1. When I'm thriving I will own a 4,000 square foot house = boring!
  2. When I'm thriving I will own a home that has a beautiful open foyer with a large crystal chandelier shining brightly from the centre of the ceiling.  As I walk to the kitchen, I will smell yummy chocolate chip cookies baking and hear the faint sound of Queen on the radio.  I love Queen.  My new home will be filled with love, vibrant happy colours and the sound of music and laughter.

Definition #2 = Amazing!!  Now you want to achieve owning that house.  It speaks to you and you only.  It represents thriving to you. It's your home, your vision and no one can take something so vibrant away from you.

Your Kick Ass I'm Going to Thrive Challenge:
  1. Get your pen and paper and start writing your "thrive" definition for any and all areas of your life that you choose.
  2. Make your definition personal.  Thriving is all about your individual happiness and how you choose to define it.
  3. Make it so vibrant that when you read your definition, you're smiling the whole time!  Yup, you're smiling because it's happening.
  4. Focus on the amazing image and set out to make it happen.  You can do it.  Step into the magic zone and out of your comfort zone.

Dreaming, Planning and Doing

“Without leaps of imagination, or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities. Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning.”  Gloria Steinem

Just a few hours to go and I'm so excited!

2014 is the year I set my dream in motion and make it my new, amazing reality!  My visualizations are popping with colour and sound and textures and motions.  They are a whirlwind of activity.

What am I up to you ask?

Living in a small, quaint village in France for 6 months every year.  I want to successfully rent a small cottage and write, relax, enjoy good food and learn every nuance of French language and culture.

My success will depend on planning through goal setting.

Let my journey begin!

What dream to you want to make reality through planning and doing?

Happy New Year, Susan

Patience is a Virtue

Recently, I fell and broke my wrist.  Result - an enormous, clunky cast that leaves me typing with one finger!  Slow and awkward.
Through this experience I have learned the value of patience and that staying positive on this journey is the key to a successful outcome!

I will be writing and preparing for exciting programs real soon.

Be Patient - It Will Be Worth It!

Focus on What You Want

The Question I Hear Most Often…

Why is it so hard to just get what I want, when I really want it?
The biggest reason you are not successful,  is….your THOUGHTS!
The problem is you will spend most of your time thinking about what you don’t want instead of what you do want. I will tell you..
“WHAT WE THINK ABOUT WE BRING ABOUT”
If you spend most of your time seeing a series of disappointing images in your mind, like the pile of unpaid bills, the bad relationships, the long line of medications, the endless amount of work, this is what will keep showing up in your life.
“WHAT YOU RESIST, PERSISTS”!
It's time to STOP thinking and picturing what you don’t want and START focusing and spending your energy on what you do want. See the money flowing in, see the intimate relationship, the health, the career, the joy.
Focus on  what YOU WANT, because………
“WHAT YOU FOCUS ON, EXPANDS”!
And you want your life to expand with possibilities and opportunities?  Yes, of course, you do!

Do it starting NOW - change your thoughts, change your outcome, change your life!

Let's get started

Close your eyes, take a deep cleansing breath and say:

I am always positive and prosperous-minded.

Breath and Repeat Several Times Each Day
for one week and notice how you feel, how you
have changed and how your life has changed.

Once you start you won't stop and your daily
affirmations and positive thoughts will grow
along with your potential.

Choose Gratitude

A grateful heart is a happy heart.  It's so easy to take things for granted:  the information your coworker sent you the fact that your car is running, and even the food you're eating for dinner.  The fact is, most of us have gotten into the habit of ignoring all of the good things in our lives.  Instead, we focus our mental and emotional energy on being upset about what's wrong and what we don't have.  Yes, cultivating an "attitude of gratitude" might sound cliche, but it is important to your overall health and well-being.  Studies have actually shown that thankful individuals are 25% healthier than their counterparts!  To start tapping into the power of gratitude, simply say "thanks" to the people who help you or smile at you or offer a compliment throughout your day.

Action Step - Find a wide-mouth jar with a lid and each day write down a single "I'm grateful for _____" statement.  Fold it and place in the jar.  At the end of the week, month or year, empty your jar and read all the things you have to be grateful for.  You will be pleasantly surprised!

Baby, It's Cold Outside

Welcome to winter in Canada.  We are experiencing a blast of arctic air that is set to stay with us for the next 10 days!  I may be proudly Canadian but these cold blasts can be miserable!

That being said, the cold snap got me thinking about my goals for the future.  Oh, I have several and I'm a firm believer in setting goals for your life, career, business, relationships and health.  Small goals that are easy to achieve and celebrate are my favourites.  Each day I celebrate a goal that I successfully completed.

Larger goals are wonderful but if you forget to create an action plan to achieve your big dream type goal you will begin to feel discouraged.  This may lead to giving up on your dreamy goal.

Today, I was looking out my picture window and I started to daydream and a new dreamy goal came to my mind.  My new goal - Every Winter I Will Spend a Minimum of 3-Weeks in a Hot, Hot, Tropical Climate.  Fabulous goal and I want it to be successful so I set about creating an action plan.  I will be in Costa Rica or other tropical paradise from January 22, 2014 to February 15, 2014....period.

My action plan created the steps I want to take to make my goal a reality.  First, finances - how much will I want?  I divided that amount by 52.  So much easier to look at dollar values when they are small and it makes it doable!

Second, what do I want to change in my business to ensure the extra funds are available.  I set about writing action steps to increase my income.

Third, hubby.  Okay, he pretty much loves whatever I plan so I'm good there.

Done!!  I set a goal and developed the action steps to make it a reality.  As a bonus, I created new and fantastic action steps to grow my business.

The benefits of Goal Setting and Creating an Action Plan are enormous.

So, get out your pen and paper, start daydreaming, jot down notes.  Dream big and choose one to make a reality.  You will have a new sense of accomplishment, confidence and an event in your future to look forward to.  How great is that!
